In recent months, the Altimapa Capital team has welcomed aboard four new team members. This expansion demonstrates not only the private debt broker’s current strength but its diversity too with the culturally rich team hailing from all corners of the world.
At a time when the pandemic has choked many businesses, Altimapa is holding its ground and the capacity to work on new deals boosted by the team's expansion. The removal of commuting or business travel from daily schedules of investors and clients alike has further enhanced and accelerated the rate of engagement.
CEO Pedro Tavares expands: “The availability of capital remains high and capital markets are open for business. This makes for a very unusual crisis. The expanded team puts Altimapa in an optimal place to help clients and funders adapt to the uncertain times with greater resilience and to prosper despite the difficulties.”
Joining the business within the last quarter, Lala Huseynbeyova took on the position of Managing Director for Structured Credit & Financial Institutions. With a background in engineering and an extensive track record in corporate credit and the financing of fin-techs and lending platforms, Lala joins the team having worked for HSBC, EBRD as well as privately owned banks. Her primary focus is structured finance and placements for financial institutions as well as corporate clients across different economic sectors.
Claire Pidancet is Altimapa’s Managing Director for Growth and Venture Capital. Her wealth of experience
ranges from her knowledge of early-stage equity finance and asset based finance to her international education. Claire started a 14 year career in Corporate Banking with RABOBANK and ABN AMRO in London, and NATIXIS in Paris. Over the last nine years, she has advised technology startups and investors within the European innovation ecosystem.
“At the beginning of the lockdown, everything was in flux and facing uncertainty Although we are working remotely, the Altimapa team spirit has emerged stronger, driven by constant attention to our customers’ financing needs and a renewed conviction in the part we play in facilitating the rebuilding of the economy.”’
Managing Director for Natural Resources, David Phipps joins the team with a focus on Structured Commodity Finance, Energy and Natural Resources. He has had a long career in investment banking having previously been Head of Commodities at ABN AMRO, Co-Global Head of Commodities at UBS as well as being CEO of a London listed metals trading and broking business.
“I’m delighted to be part of the Altimapa team despite joining moments prior to the COVID lockdown. The team’s adaptation to the remote working environment has proven to be no hindrance to our continued growth with both client and funder needs being met to a very high standard. I look forward to being part of Altimapa's growth story going forward as we head towards a more settled time.”
The quartet is completed with Vlad Groza, Altimapa’s newly appointed Director of Transactions & Closing; a ‘digital colleague’ yet to physically step foot in the office. He previously held roles in asset management and banking at Hadrian’s Wall Capital and MUFG Bank. His areas of expertise include structured finance, structured loans, and asset finance across a broad range of economic sectors and transaction sizes.
“I knew that starting a new role in a dynamic firm, with substantial deal flow, would keep me on my toes and I was excited about the transition to Altimapa from the investor side. Given the lockdown, most of the team has never seen me in person, but I received a very warm welcome nevertheless.”
